Optima Water Solutions designs and installs Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) Plants in Nigeria, enabling industries to achieve complete elimination of liquid effluent discharge. Mandatory for textile, distillery, sugar, tannery, and other industries under CPCB ZLD mandates, our ISO 9001:2015 certified systems combine advanced membrane technology with thermal evaporation to recover maximum water and produce dry solid waste only.
Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) is a water treatment process in which all wastewater is treated and recycled — no liquid effluent is discharged to the environment. The process concentrates all dissolved salts and contaminants into a dry solid (cake) that can be safely disposed of or further processed.
A complete ZLD system typically combines: Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) → Reverse Osmosis (RO) → Multiple Effect Evaporation (MEE) or Mechanical Vapour Recompression (MVR) → Agitated Thin Film Dryer (ATFD) or Spray Dryer.
The CPCB and State PCBs have mandated ZLD for highly polluting industries including textile dyeing, distilleries, sugar mills, tanneries, and pharmaceutical bulk drug manufacturing units across India.
With key industrial clusters including Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lagos Industrial Area, Kano Industrial Area, Nigeria is a growing market for reliable ZLD infrastructure. National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) enforces effluent standards. Oil and gas, cement, and food processing industries face mandatory ETP requirements.
Our team designs ZLD systems suited to Nigeria's site conditions and regulatory environment, backed by 12+ years of manufacturing experience and 158+ completed installations nationwide.

ZLD plant cost in Nigeria varies significantly based on effluent volume and characteristics. A 5 KLD ZLD system starts from ₹30–50 Lakh. A 50 KLD ZLD plant typically costs ₹1.5–3 Crore. Textile dyeing ZLD systems for 100 KLD+ can cost ₹3–10 Crore. Contact Optima for a free feasibility assessment and budgetary quote.
ZLD is mandatory for textile dyeing/processing, distilleries, sugar mills, tanneries, pharmaceutical bulk drug, dyes and dye intermediates, and chlor-alkali industries in India. The Nigeria PCB may have issued ZLD notices to your category. Optima can review your industry category and advise on compliance requirements in Nigeria.
A well-designed ZLD plant recovers 90–95% of the input water volume for reuse in your process. Only 5–10% ends up as concentrate which is then evaporated to dry solids. This dramatically reduces your fresh water intake and eliminates liquid discharge completely.
An ETP treats effluent to meet discharge standards and the treated water is discharged to the drain or river. A ZLD plant goes further — it recycles all treated water back to your process with zero discharge to any water body. ZLD requires additional RO and evaporation stages beyond a standard ETP.
Yes. This is the most common ZLD project Optima handles. If you have an existing ETP in Nigeria, we add RO, MEE/MVR, and an ATFD or spray dryer to convert it to full ZLD. We assess your current ETP and design the most cost-effective upgrade path to achieve compliance.
