A Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) is a facility that processes domestic and municipal wastewater to remove contaminants before the treated water is discharged or reused. The process involves physical, biological, and chemical treatment stages that remove suspended solids, organic matter, nutrients, and pathogens.

Modern STP systems use technologies including MBBR (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor), MBR (Membrane Bioreactor), SBR (Sequencing Batch Reactor), and conventional activated sludge processes — each suited to different capacities and site conditions.

GPCB applies zero liquid discharge norms to a significant share of Vadodara's chemical and pharma units, similar to the standard we see in Ahmedabad and Surat, which means many of our Vadodara projects involve a combined treatment and recovery system rather than sewage treatment alone.

Savli Industrial's engineering and manufacturing base and Halol Industrial's more mixed tenant profile bring a lower-intensity effluent load than the chemical-heavy Nandesari zone, and typically need a more standard STP and ETP combination without the full ZLD requirement.

Vadodara's specific chemical and pharma concentration means we often design custom pre-treatment stages for units handling particular reagents or intermediates, since a generic ETP process does not reliably remove every contaminant a specialty chemical plant might produce.

Nandesari's chemical zone hosts some of the most technically demanding effluent treatment projects we handle in Gujarat, given the range of specific reagents and intermediates different units process. A generic ETP design is often not sufficient here — we typically need to review each unit's specific chemical inputs before proposing a pre-treatment stage that reliably removes the contaminants that unit actually produces, ahead of the biological and, where required, ZLD recovery stages.

Savli and Halol Industrial units generally carry a lower-intensity effluent load than Nandesari, closer to standard engineering and light-manufacturing discharge, and typically need conventional STP and ETP treatment without the full ZLD requirement that applies to much of the Nandesari chemical cluster. GIDC Makarpura and Waghodia fall between the two, and we assess each unit individually given the mixed tenant base in both zones.
