What is a Nano Filtration Plant?

Nanofiltration (NF) is a membrane filtration process with pore sizes between Ultrafiltration (UF) and Reverse Osmosis (RO) — typically 0.001–0.01 microns. NF membranes selectively reject divalent and multivalent ions (calcium, magnesium, sulphates, heavy metals) while allowing monovalent ions (sodium, chloride) to pass at lower operating pressure than RO.

This selective rejection makes NF ideal for water softening, colour removal from textile effluent, natural organic matter (NOM) removal, and pharmaceutical process water where partial demineralisation is required without full RO treatment.

NF systems consume 30–50% less energy than equivalent RO systems due to lower operating pressures.

Nano Filtration Plant in Uttarakhand — Why It Matters

Uttarakhand continues to see rising demand for NF Plant systems as industrial and residential development accelerates across SIDCUL Haridwar, SIDCUL Pantnagar, Kashipur Industrial and nearby zones. Uttarakhand Environment Protection and Pollution Control Board (UEPPCB) enforces effluent norms. Pharmaceutical and FMCG industries face strict treatment requirements due to sensitive Himalayan river systems.

Optima Water Solutions has delivered NF Plant projects for clients across Uttarakhand, giving us practical, on-the-ground experience with local site conditions, approval processes, and the after-sales support expected in this market.

Key industrial areas we serve in Uttarakhand:

Common Questions

Nano Filtration Plant in Uttarakhand — FAQ

What is the cost of a Nano Filtration Plant in Uttarakhand?

NF plant cost in Uttarakhand starts from ₹2–4 Lakh for 500 LPH systems and ranges to ₹15–30 Lakh for 10 m³/hr capacity. Large industrial NF systems for textile colour removal or municipal softening can cost ₹50 Lakh to ₹1 Crore+. Call Optima at +91 9711880791 for a detailed quote.

What is the difference between NF and RO?

RO removes almost all dissolved salts (95–99% TDS rejection). NF selectively rejects divalent ions and larger molecules while allowing monovalent salts to pass — operating at 30–50% lower pressure than RO. Use NF when you need colour removal, hardness reduction, or partial demineralisation without full TDS reduction.

Is NF good for textile effluent treatment in Uttarakhand?

Yes. NF is very effective for colour and COD removal from textile dyeing effluent in Uttarakhand. NF permeate is typically colour-free and can be recycled to dyeing processes, saving fresh water. The concentrate (reject) goes to the ETP for further treatment. NF + ZLD is a common combination for textile ZLD systems.

Can NF replace water softener for hardness removal?

Yes. NF effectively removes hardness (calcium, magnesium) and sulphates without using salt-based ion exchange. Unlike conventional softeners that require regeneration with salt (adding sodium to effluent), NF physically separates hardness ions without chemical addition. Preferred choice where salt discharge is restricted.

How long do NF membranes last?

NF membranes typically last 3–7 years with proper maintenance. Regular backwash, CIP cleaning, and antiscalant dosing are essential. Optima provides AMC services in Uttarakhand including scheduled CIP, performance monitoring, and membrane replacement when required.
